Ma Maison
Here you will find a short video (3:12) of me describing basic elements of my house such as how many floors it has, how many rooms, the kind of heating it uses, if it has a pool, etc.
You can use it as a listening comprehension exercise with the fill-in-the-blank google form I created to go along.
1. Watch the video.
You can use it as a listening comprehension exercise with the fill-in-the-blank google form I created to go along.
1. Watch the video.
2. Complete Fill-in-the-blank listening activity
3. Personalize the answers to describe your home with this model document
4. Practice your pronunciation using a google doc feature called Voice Typing (under TOOLS).
Change the default language from English to Français.
Read the model document with your answers in it.
You will be able to identify where you need to polish your pronunciation if the language program doesn't recognize what you are saying.
Perhaps go back to my video, and pay special attention to how I pronounce those words.
Have fun!!!
Amusez-vous!!!

Best of Nailed it... France
Bonjour!
This week, I want my students to practice the verbs: faire, mettre, and dire. I created a à slideshow based on C'est du gâteau - the French version of Nailed it - to use along with a work-in progress script and unit. I am inspired by Grant Boulanger's motto:

Poisson d'avril : The French tradition of April Fish day.
Bonjour les amis! Hello friends!
For April 1st, here is a short video on the origin of April Fish day in France my daughter Emma-Rose and I made together. There are an English and a French version. We hope you learn something, pick up some French words, and especially have fun cutting up your own fish and trying to secretly stick them onto your friends, teachers, and family's backs on April 1st! : D

The adventures of Momo & Lulu (Level 1, Episode 1 - rough draft)
This is a draft of a series of French lessons I am developing based on Comprehensible Input (CI). In the final version, I will be acting out the parts of Momo and Lulu. I have 5 mini episodes drafted so far. I will upload gradually this week until our move on July 1st. Things will probably halt for a little after that, but I will be back later this summer.
This is a very rough draft...
Happy summer,
Karine xx

French Learning Video - What's this for?
C'est pour quoi?
In today's post, I use a simple fork to play around with words and get your kids' ears used to a few common French expressions:
C'est pourquoi?
Sounds like: seh poor kwah
(What is it for?)
C'est pour...
Sounds like: seh poor
(It is for...)
The other words used in the video are:
Voici
Sounds like: vwah-see
(Here is)
Se gratter la tête
Sounds like: suh gratey lah teht
(To scratch your head)
Creuser dans la terre
Sounds like: kruzey dah lah ter
(To dig in the ground)
Manger des frites
Sounds like: mahzey deh freet
(To eat French Fries)
POST WATCHING IDEAS:
Encourage your kids to imitate Karine, using a fork and repeating the phrases. Encourage them to find more silly ways to use a fork! Email me your idea and I'll teach you how to say it in French!
Thanks for watching!
À plus,
Karine

French learning Video - Le Dodo by R. Munsch
Le Dodo by Robert Munsch, illustrations by Michael Matchenko, published by Les Editions La Courte Echelle.
A fairly advanced video for those who would have a fluent aural comprehension of French, those who are fans of Robert Munsch, and those who just plainly enjoy watching my short clips! You don't have to understand everything to enjoy, just sit back and relax! :)
